You Complete half of your Religion when you get Married

“You complete half your religion when you get married," I was always told growing up in a Lebanese Muslim household where marriage was considered the ultimate goal in life. It was more important than any other achievement I would ever do as it carries the weight of half my religion. My work plays on the Arab obsession with relationship status by ripping away the marriage ring finger. Taken literally, this statement reveals you will always be half a person without a partner, incomplete and not able to fulfill an ultimate spiritual level. I have made a mold out of my own hands in a prayer position and cast it using slip porcelain clay.
